Open the HowToUse.pdf which explains the usage of the model interface (the screenshots in the pdf are taken from Lagom generiC 2.0 below, so don't get irritated by the differences). Unzip the downloaded zip-Archive (in most cases by double-click on the zip-file) (Please note that Java 1.5 or higher must be installed.) A user-chosen isolation parameter determines the probabilities of agents interacting with others from their own region and from other regions. Stochastic components in the choices of agents and in their interactions lead to a probabilistic exploration of the set of economic trajectories. The economic activity is simulated by the execution of these actions and interactions at variable frequencies. Rules of thumb, imitation and mutation mechanisms govern the evolution of prices, technologies, and beliefs on the basis of which agents produce, exchange and consume goods, negotiate labor contracts or credits. Agents are located in different regions, and their characteristics may depend on their region. The model is based on a set of agents including firms, households, a financial system, a government, and the rest of the world.
Lagom regiO is an agent based model for representing economic systems with several heterogeneous regions – the economy of Germany, the Mediterranean Region, the world – over a time horizon of one to several decades.
